#177: Intuitive Eating, Chronic Illness, and Breaking Free from The Wellness Diet with Linda Tucker
I was thrilled to be a guest on Christy Harrison’s podcast Food Psych.
We talk about my history with body shame, how chronic health issues sucked me into the rabbit hole of the “wellness diet”, when and how I was introduced to Intuitive Eating (and how that changed my coaching practice), and why I am always “my own client first”, constantly learning, growing, and doing the hard work of recovery.
The Wellness Diet and Letting Go of the Desire to Lose Weight
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Madison from Sunny Thymes, an anti-diet integrative nutrition health coach, where we discussed what lessons I have learned in my own life after leaving the “wellness diet”.
We had a great conversation, ENJOY!
Smash The Scale - Linda Tucker Health Coach
My friends and I had a little fun with some with the scale.. this is the only way I endorse interacting with scales these days.
Please enjoy this silly video (with a very serious message!) and I hope it inspires YOU to smash your OWN scale!
The Intuitive Eating 'Banana Split'
The 10 principles of Intuitive Eating are meant to work TOGETHER and each serves an unique purpose. They layer on top of one another and support each other in practice and theory.
There are no rules on how and when to experiment with these 10 principles and everyone’s experience will be different.
While the entire philosophy is baed on upon “rejecting the diet mentality” (the bowl) the other ‘ingredients’ can be added in in your own way and timing. Often “gentle nutrition” is reserved until we are a bit further along in dismantling old beliefs, hence the ‘cherry on top’.
If you are using the language of Intuitive Eating, or any specific principle, as a way to “control” your body or as a method of losing weight, you are turning intuitive eating into a diet. Intuitive Eating is rooted in curiosity and non-judgment. Enjoy the process!
THE HOLISTIC 30
In January 2018 I hosted 25 people who wanted to start the new year by NOT dieting and instead focus on true, holistic health.
Holistic means the WHOLE person. Our well being includes many things beyond our physical, including food and exercise. Well being is just as much, if not MORE so, about emotional, mental, spiritual, and social health.
